Why is giving your sparkledog mental disorders hip?
Protip: It's not. It's grossly offensive to those who have had to deal with it. Schizophrenia isn't just hearing voices lol, bipolar isn't just going from happy to sad, and autism isn't an excuse to act like a fuckwit. These are serious disorders and you treating them like an accessory is a douchey thing to do.
You wouldn't give your fursona/sparkledog AIDS or cancer, why treat mental disorders the same way?
This isn't just for sparkledogs, this is for everyone out there who thinks claiming to be mentally ill makes you cool.
EDIT: If you've done the research and it's true to the disorder (i.e. one of my characters is a paranoid schizophrenic and he believes that "they" are responsible for everything from misplacing his car keys to molesting him while he sleeps. It doesn't make people go "LOLOLOL HOW RANDOM" it makes people cross the street to avoid him) then that's peachy.
But if you're adding it to try to make yourself unique and completely trivializing the seriousness of the disease, then go hang out with someone who has that disease (who isn't a 15 year old DA brat who got the diagnoses off an online quiz) for a day and see what a moron you are.
If you're going to add a mental disorder to your character, do it. I can't stop you. But at least make it true to the disorder. Depression isn't just feeling sad occasionally. Schizophrenia isn't just hearing voices. Bipolar isn't just being happy sometimes and sad sometimes.
I'm all for mentally ill characters with RESEARCH behind them, but teenyboppers who tack them on to their sparklydesu or omfhardcoreemoedgy animals/characters PIIS ME OFF! >:U
That's just the ultimate in fail People who really do have mental problems don't advertise it nor do they go around seeking pity about it.It pisses me off when people insensitively use this conditions as they though are fashion statement. I don't mind it when artists make people aware of the condition that it's around, but using it to get attention is just sick.

I had a lady that I worked with once who would claim to have had every disorder that anyone in the store was suffering with. Once I told her I had a rare condition called lycanthrope . . . She swore she had it too, until I informed her it meant werewolfism. I dislike people who think such things are cool to claim, thinking it gives them sympathy or "allure" Stupid-heads. Try livin' it for real. Mental disorders are so much more fun to deal with when you can't pay for anything to help you with them. (sorry, got off track, a little bitter, I guess)

fucking sparkeldogs. making everything seem like a 'fad' or a 'trend' they don't even give actual thought to what they're portraying :/ that isn't to say ALL sparklefucks don't think about it. most don't, though.
Fursonas reflect that person inside, so if they feel they have some mental disorder, then so be it. And don't hate us sparkledogs. We can sparkle all we want, just like you can hate all you want >;D

I'd like to show you some awesome nature related work from more or less unknown artists which deserve more attention - this is a must see, you won't regret it!!!
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
I'm a lover of visual impacts. I like brilliant colors and shapes. And I decided to collect a whole stack of deviations that reflect that taste. These pieces showcased below deserve every bit of publicity you can give them. x)P

As a friend said, a fursona should be about you and yourself, don't make a story for it.
